PDO Thread Lift

Non-Surgical Lift

What is a PDO Thread?

The PDO thread is a biodegradable sterile suture that is completely absorbed by the skin and has been used in different modalities of surgeries for many years. Due to the noticeable improvement of the scars and the skin after surgery, research evolved in the use of PDO threads for aesthetics purposes.

PDO threads are FDA-approved and one of the safest materials that can be used in the body.

PDO Thread Lift

What is a PDO Thread Lift?

PDO Thread Lift is the latest non-surgical procedure for tightening the lower part of the face, where Fillers and Neurotoxins don’t work.

This procedure involves the use of different strengths of PDO threads that are inserted under the skin. The threads are strategically placed to lift sagging skin to a new position providing a frame for collagen growth to support and tighten the skin. The threads stay in the new position for 3 to 4 months and while going through natural degradation they stimulate the formation of new collagen fibers.

The result is a firmer look with a new collagen support lasting from 18 to 24 months. For the right candidate, the results are an amazingly natural lift and tightening of the jawline.

How is the PDO Thread Lift Done?

The procedure is customized according to each individual needs and the number and strength of the threads will vary accordingly.

First, the skin is numbed with cream. Anesthesia is injected in small areas to avoid any discomfort during the procedure.

When the area is numbed, Suzana Tanimoto, PA-C will insert small needled threads through the dermis, placing them in the direction to lift the jawline.

The procedure offers a non-surgical skin tightening option with virtually no downtime.

Who Are the Right Candidates for this Procedure?

PDO Thread Lift is effective on mild to moderate jawline sagging. Heavier skin will certainly need stronger and more numerous threads.

In most cases, once optimal lift is achieved, the results will last anywhere between 18 to 24 months.

Can PDO Threads be Combined with Other Aesthetic Treatements?

Absolutely! In fact, PDO Threads Lift is the treatment that was missing for the lower face. With this addition to our arsenal, it is possible to perform a total facial harmonization with non-surgical procedures.

It is important to know what therapies to do first and how long to wait in between treatments to allow each product to work to its full potential and for the optimal aesthetic outcome.

What to Expect Post-Procedure?

Minor bruising will generally occur depending on the types of threads used and the areas treated. Expect some mild swelling and soreness for 3 to 5 days after the procedure and a sensation of facial tightness of up to 2 weeks. Temporary mild dimpling of the skin can also occur. Scarring is very rare and resolves with time.

Are There Any Risks or Complications Associated with PDO Threads?

There are very minimal side effects to PDO Threads including, but not limited to, minor bruising, swelling and dimpling. These small complications are mostly minimal and manageable. Removal of the threads is rarely required in cases of extrusion or migration. There are no scars after removal of threads.

What is the Recovery Period?

Patients are able to return to their daily lives and routines on the same day but are advised to rest for a few hours after the procedure and minimize strenuous activities and exercise for two days.
