Sandra Crews, a South Florida native, is a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and our lead technician. Sandra has eight years of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant, including five years working directly with Dr. Ginsberg. In addition to being a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, Sandra is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish. She has also achieved a certification as an Ophthalmic Scribe, and is always working to expand her knowledge in the field of Ophthalmology. Sandra shows continuing dedication to her job and to making sure every patient is treated with kindness and respect.
In addition to her career, Sandra’s non-medical interests include spending time with her husband, Michael, and two daughters, Caitlin and Kendra, who both attend the University of Central Florida. Her favorite activities include reading poolside on summer days, and crafting. Sandra is also an avid runner, and enjoys participating in 5K runs for charitable causes. Most importantly, however, Sandra lives by her favorite life motto, “It is what it is, enjoy it!”
Soula has worked in customer service for over 20 years with 10 of those years spent in medical office management. She ensures the smooth day-to-day running of the office and is the first point of contact for our patients. Committed to understanding patient needs, she provides friendly and caring customer service. Soula is originally from Wisconsin and has been a Florida resident for 15 years. She lives in the Naples area with her daughter Vasoula. Soula is fluent in the Greek language, and proudly volunteers teaching the language within the community.
Barrett Ross Ginsberg, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist who specializes in Cataracts and Diseases and Surgery of the Cornea. Born in Buffalo, New York, he lived there until the age of 8 when he and his family moved to Clearwater, Florida. After graduation from high school, he was granted an accelerated admission into the University of Virginia where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. It was there that Dr. Ginsberg decided to pursue a career in Medicine.
He received an additional Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology at the University of South Florida. Upon receiving his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine, he decided to specialize in Ophthalmology. He first did an Internal Medicine Internship at Kaiser Permanente/ Stanford University Hospital in Santa Clara, California.
Dr. Ginsberg was then accepted into the Ophthalmology residency at the University of Florida/ Shands Teaching Hospital, where he was voted Resident of the Year. Following residency, he was chosen for the prestigious Fellowship in Corneal Disease and Surgery/ Cataract Surgery/ Vision Correction Surgery/ Uveitis under the direction of internationally known Drs. Mark J. Mannis and Ivan Schwab at the University of California at Davis. During this time, he specialized in complex corneal and anterior segment surgery at a large tertiary hospital.
Dr. Ginsberg started his career in Ophthalmology after moving to the Collier/ Lee County area over a decade ago. He has performed thousands of eye surgeries during his successful career at Eye Centers of Florida with Dr. David C. Brown. He has been an Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida. He attends and lectures at most Ophthalmology congresses and meetings where he closely follows the latest advancements in Ophthalmology and implements them as soon as it is apparent these new techniques, equipment or procedures will offer even the slightest advantage to his patients.
Dr. Ginsberg has always been an active amateur athlete, preferring endurance sports such as triathlon, running, swimming and cycling. He has completed ten marathons, including the New York City Marathon twice, and numerous triathlons up to the half-ironman distance. One of his New York City Marathons (2011) was dedicated to the Lighthouse of Collier, which raised approximately five thousand dollars of support donations.
He is married to his beautiful wife, also a physician, whom he met in California while they were both in fellowship training. He is devoted to spending any free time with his wife and their gorgeous daughter. The Ginsberg family has been most active with the Lighthouse of Collier, where Dr. Ginsberg is presently a board member and his wife was a board member in the past. Both have volunteered at the Bonita Springs Lion’s Eye Clinic for deserving patients and other charitable organizations.
